Your Website Is Either Bringing In Work Or Quietly Losing It.

Most maintenance plans are sold as insurance against a hack. That's part of it. But the failure that costs businesses the most money isn't dramatic at all: a plugin update changes a form setting, the page still says “Thanks, we'll be in touch,” and the message never arrives. The site is up the whole time. Uptime monitoring never fires. Nobody complains, because the people who would have complained never knew they were ignored. We patch, back up, monitor and speed up your site like any competent provider should — then we do the part that connects it to revenue: every month we submit every form on your site and confirm the lead still lands in your inbox and your CRM.

    The Short Answer

What Is A Website Care Plan?

A website care plan — also called a website maintenance plan — is a recurring service that keeps a live website secure, updated, backed up, fast and working, including the parts that quietly generate revenue like your contact forms and your checkout. It is preventive work: you are paying for problems that never happen, which is exactly why a good plan has to show its work every single month.

    • Covers everything that happens to the site after launch — the code you didn't write and the updates you didn't ask for
    • Software updates, security monitoring, offsite backups, uptime checks, speed, and a support channel for changes
    • Includes the lead path — forms, CRM handoff and conversion tracking tested, not assumed
    • Not SEO, not ad management, not a redesign — those are separate services with separate reporting
    The Silent Failure

Why Most Maintenance Plans Fail The Business Paying For Them.

Nobody watches the lead path uptime monitoring answers exactly one question: is the server responding? Every provider in this category promises uptime monitoring. Uptime monitoring cannot tell you whether your quote request reached a human. Form plugins update. SMTP credentials expire. A CRM integration loses its API key. A spam filter starts eating your own notifications. A redirect breaks the conversion event, so your ad platform stops optimizing. In every one of those cases the site looks perfect and the visitor leaves satisfied. You find out weeks later, when the phone is quieter than it should be — and you can't go back and recover the people who filled it out.

“My host already does this” managed hosting covers the server — not your plugins Managed hosting is genuinely useful and we recommend it. It covers the server, the PHP runtime, server-level caching, and usually some firewall. It does not cover your plugins, your theme, your content, your checkout, your forms or your integrations — and that is the layer where nearly all of the real risk sits. Patchstack found that of the 11,334 new vulnerabilities disclosed in the WordPress ecosystem during 2025, 91% were in plugins and 9% in themes, with only six in core. Your host does not manage plugins. Nobody does, unless someone is paid to.

    The Evidence

What The Research Says About Leaving A Site Unattended.

Most pages in this category argue from feelings — peace of mind, protect your investment, sleep at night. Here is what the published data says instead, with every source named and linked so you can check it yourself.

    11,334

new vulnerabilities disclosed in the WordPress ecosystem in 2025 — a 42% jump over the year before, and 91% of them in plugins

    ~5 hrs

median time from a vulnerability being publicly disclosed to being actively exploited at scale — a monthly patch cycle is not a security posture

    70%+

of 316,500 publicly visible WordPress installations were running end-of-life PHP, most commonly a version unsupported since 2022

    31%

of breaches now start with vulnerability exploitation — it has overtaken stolen credentials as the leading entry point, and small businesses see roughly 4x more confirmed breaches than large organizations

    8.3%

improvement in bounce rate on lead-generation sites from a 0.1 second improvement in mobile load time, measured across 30M+ sessions

    961

federal web accessibility lawsuits filed in Florida in 2025, up from 470 the year before — one of the two most active venues in the country

To be clear about what we do and don't claim: we monitor for accessibility regressions and fix what can be fixed in code and content. We do not sell legal protection and we do not certify sites as compliant — anyone who tells you a monthly plan makes you lawsuit-proof is selling you a liability. Talk to an attorney about legal exposure and let us handle the technical side.

    What We Do

Six Pillars Of Our Website Care Plans.

Every plan we run is built on the same six pillars. The tier changes how often each one runs and how fast we respond — not whether it happens at all.

    Security Monitoring & Threat Response

Continuous malware and file-integrity scanning, a firewall configured at the site level instead of left to whatever the host provides, login hardening with two-factor, and same-day action on newly disclosed plugin vulnerabilities. If something gets through, cleanup is included — including the Google security review request most providers skip.

Updates, PHP Currency & Staged Testing

Core, plugins and themes updated weekly on a staging clone first, checked, then pushed live. If an update breaks something, it breaks where nobody sees it. We treat your PHP version as a maintenance item too — clone, compatibility scan, hand-test the critical paths, documented rollback, then move production.

    Backups You Can Actually Restore

Daily backups of files and database stored offsite on infrastructure separate from your hosting, with 30-day retention and a longer monthly archive. We rehearse a restore quarterly on staging and record the date it was last verified in your report. An untested backup is a hypothesis, not a safety net.

    Lead-Path Testing

Every month we submit every form on your site as if we were a customer, then verify four things: the notification email arrived and wasn't filtered, the CRM record was created with fields mapped correctly, the conversion event fired, and the tracking number routes to the right phone. Store plans add a test transaction through checkout.

    Performance, Accessibility & Schema

Core Web Vitals tracked monthly against real user data and reported next to conversion rate, not as a score you have no way to act on. Accessibility gets an automated scan monthly and a manual review quarterly. Schema is validated monthly, because a plugin update that strips it quietly removes you from the pool AI assistants cite.

Content Edits, With A Scope You Can Read

Copy changes, image swaps, publishing a post you supply, price and hours updates, form fields, broken links — all included, with no per-change fees and no stopwatch. New templates, custom development and redesigns are quoted separately, and you get the number before anyone starts work, not after.

    The Results

What A Care Plan Actually Changes For You.

You Stop Losing Leads You Never Knew About

The monthly lead-path test turns an invisible failure into a caught defect. If a form stops delivering, we find it in days — not in a quarterly revenue conversation where nobody can explain the drop.

Nobody On Your Team Becomes The Webmaster

Right now, site work lands on whoever is least busy. That person isn't a developer, the task sits for two weeks, and it gets done badly under time pressure. A care plan moves that work to people who do it every day and gives those hours back.

The Site Keeps Earning What You Paid To Build It

A website is the only asset most businesses buy and then never service. Two years of skipped updates, drifting page speed and accumulating broken links is how a site that converted well at launch stops converting — slowly enough that nobody notices the slope.

You're Covered When A Storm Changes Everything

In Northeast Florida that's an operational requirement, not a talking point. We verify offsite backups are restorable before hurricane season, push closure notices and changed hours site-wide within the hour during an event, and put you back to normal the day you reopen.

    How It Works

    Our 4-Step Care Plan Process.

    We Map

A free site health check. Every plugin and theme inventoried with versions and known vulnerabilities, PHP and CMS versions recorded, backups checked, security and accessibility scans run, Core Web Vitals pulled from real user data, and every form tested end to end. You get the findings in plain language either way.

    We Fix

Almost every site we take over has inherited debt — end-of-life PHP, abandoned plugins nobody has touched since 2021, a form routing to an employee who left, no offsite backup. We quote that remediation separately and finish it before the recurring plan starts, so you never pay a monthly fee to maintain a mess you were handed.

    We Build & Tune

The cadence starts and runs on a real schedule instead of whenever someone remembers. Continuous security and uptime monitoring. Daily offsite backups. Weekly staged update cycle. Monthly lead-path test, Core Web Vitals, accessibility scan, schema validation and your report. Quarterly restore rehearsal, manual accessibility review and plugin audit.

    We Scale

Maintenance produces data most agencies throw away — which pages are slowing down, which forms get abandoned, where visitors hit dead ends. We route speed findings into CRO, broken markup and crawl issues into SEO and AEO, and lead-quality patterns into lifecycle marketing. One dashboard, one bill.

A Care Plan Doesn't Work Alone. It's The Floor Everything Stands On.

Maintenance is the least visible thing you buy and the most obvious when it's missing. SEO depends on a site that is crawlable, fast, and not carrying a security warning — Google's documentation is explicit that an unresolved security issue eventually gets a site removed from search, erasing months of ranking work no content calendar can fix. AEO depends on schema markup staying intact; a plugin update that strips it quietly removes you from the pool AI assistants cite, and nothing in your rankings report will tell you it happened. CRO depends on a working measurement path — if the form doesn't deliver or the conversion event doesn't fire, every test you run is measuring noise. Google Ads and social ads depend on a fast landing page and a clean conversion signal, or you pay more for worse targeting. A care plan doesn't replace any of that. It's what keeps all of it standing up.

The AI Sales Rep and the AI Voice Assistant both depend on the handoff between your form and your CRM staying intact, which is the entire reason the lead-path test exists. One team owns the site and the follow-up, so the message that gets captured is the message that gets answered — no finger-pointing between a web guy and a CRM guy while a week of leads sits in nobody's inbox. Common Questions

    Website Care Plan Questions, Answered.

What is included in a website maintenance package?

Every plan we run includes the same core: WordPress core, plugin and theme updates applied to a staging copy first; daily offsite backups with a rehearsed restore; continuous security monitoring and malware cleanup; uptime checks; PHP version currency; performance and Core Web Vitals tracking; accessibility and structured data monitoring; a monthly lead-path test that submits every form on your site and confirms the message reached your inbox and your CRM; content edits within a published scope; and a monthly report showing what was done. Plans do not include search engine optimization, paid ad management, or a redesign. Those are separate services, and bundling them into a maintenance fee is how scope gets blurry and how you lose the ability to tell what you are actually paying for.

How much should it cost to maintain a website per month?

For a typical small or mid-sized business site the market sits in a fairly narrow band. The Admin Bar surveyed more than 100 agency care-plan pages and found it is rare to see anything under $75 a month, that the majority fall between $100 and $150, and that the top end is around $250. Platform blogs quote much wider ranges because they lump a hobby blog in with an enterprise system. What moves your number is complexity: how many plugins you run, whether there is a store, a booking system or a membership, how often the content changes, whether the site is your primary source of leads, and how fast you need someone to pick up when something breaks. We give you the exact number on the first call rather than sending a proposal deck.

Is website maintenance worth the cost?

It depends entirely on what the site does for you. If it is a brochure nobody visits, a plan is hard to justify and we will tell you that. If it takes bookings, quote requests, or orders, the arithmetic is simple: compare the monthly fee to the value of one job. Most of the businesses we work with only need the plan to save a single job a year to come out ahead, and the failures it prevents are not small. Google's own documentation says that when it detects a security issue it adds a warning to search results that prevents most people from clicking through, and that an unresolved problem eventually leads to the site being removed from Google entirely. A contact form that silently stops delivering costs you every lead until somebody notices.

Doesn't my hosting company already handle updates, backups, and security?

Your host manages the server, the PHP runtime, server-level caching, and usually some firewall coverage. It does not manage your plugins, your theme, your content, your checkout, your forms, or your integrations, and that is where nearly all of the risk lives. Patchstack's State of WordPress Security in 2026 found 11,334 new vulnerabilities disclosed in the WordPress ecosystem during 2025, of which 91 percent were in plugins and 9 percent in themes, with only six in WordPress core. The same report found that only about 26 percent of attacks were blocked by common hosting security solutions and Cloudflare. Managed hosting is worth having. It is not a maintenance plan, and the two are not substitutes.

If I ask for 20 changes in a month, is that covered under unlimited edits?

Yes, if they are edits. We publish the boundary rather than leaving it vague. Included: text and copy changes, image and gallery swaps, publishing a blog post or staff bio you supply, price and hours updates, adding a testimonial, replacing a PDF, changing a form field, and fixing broken links. Quoted separately: new page templates, custom development, building or configuring new plugins, copywriting from a blank page, original graphic design, migrations, and redesigns. There are no per-change fees inside the included scope and we do not run a stopwatch on your requests. Small edits go live the same business day when they arrive before 2pm Eastern, and larger in-scope requests are completed within two business days.

Do I own my website, and what happens to my files if I cancel?

You own everything. The domain stays in your name, the hosting account stays in your name, and the site files and database are yours. Plans are month to month with no long-term agreement and no notice period beyond the current billing month. If you cancel, we send a complete backup of the site and the database within five business days, hand over any credentials we are holding, remove our access, and answer reasonable questions from whoever takes over. There is no exit fee, nothing gets switched off, and nothing is held hostage. We would rather earn the next month than trap you in the current one.

Do website maintenance plans work with every platform, including e-commerce sites?

We support WordPress and WooCommerce, Shopify, and most common builders. WordPress sites get the deepest coverage because that is where update, plugin and PHP risk concentrates. E-commerce sites need more attention rather than less: checkout has to be tested after every update, payment gateway and shipping plugins fail in ways a homepage never reveals, and a broken cart is completely invisible from the outside. Store plans include a test transaction through the full payment path so we find out the checkout is broken before a customer does.

How often should a Jacksonville business website be maintained?

Security monitoring should be continuous rather than scheduled. Updates should run weekly, because Patchstack found the median time from a vulnerability being disclosed to being actively exploited at scale is about five hours, so a monthly patch cycle leaves a very long window open. Backups should run daily and offsite. Forms should be tested monthly at minimum. Performance, accessibility, and structured data get a quarterly review, and the PHP version, SSL, and overall strategy get an annual one. In Northeast Florida there is one more cadence: before hurricane season we verify offsite backups are restorable and confirm that closure notices and changed hours can be pushed site-wide and to your Google Business Profile within the hour.

How do I start a care plan, and can you take over a site someone else built?

Taking over someone else's build is most of what we do. Start with the free site health check: we inventory plugins and versions, check the PHP version and the backup situation, run security and accessibility scans, test every form end to end, and pull your Core Web Vitals. You get the findings whether or not you hire us. If there is remediation to do first, we quote that separately and complete it before the recurring plan begins, so you are never paying a monthly fee to maintain problems you inherited. Call (904) 822-4733 or use the contact form and we will give you the exact monthly number on the first call.
